Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Thursday, October 26, 2017 –
From Houston to New Orleans (lunch is included)

We will leave from a designated airport hotel and make our way to Louisiana, visiting the earthworks at Niblett’s Bluff then on to sites in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Day 2 – Friday, October 27, 2017–

The Lafourche Country (breakfast and lunch is included)

From New Orleans we will cover the Lafourche Country, passing the battlefields of Kocks’s Plantation, Fort Butler, Georgia Landing, Lafourche Crossing, and a host of other important sites important to understanding the fabric of antebellum Louisiana society.

Day 3 – Saturday, October 28, 2017 –

The Teche Country – (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)

Next we will head up Bayou Teche, the burned over country, exploring the battles of Brashear City, Bisland, and Irish Bend among other small-scale dustups.

Day 4 -Sunday, October 29, 2017 –
Port Hudson, Pointe Coupee, and Bayou Bourbeau (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)

Now basing out of Lafayette, we will cover the mysterious region of Pointe Coupeé Parish on the way to Port Hudson. Next, we visit the battlefield of Sterling’s Plantation before heading across the Atchafalaya bottoms toward an important trio of towns—Port Barré, Washington, and Opelousas. We will investigate the battlefields of Bayou Bourbeau and Buzzard Prairie on this loop.

Day 5 – Monday, October 31, 2017 –

Jayhawker Country (breakfast included)

On the way home, our expedition will take us through the land terrorized by Jayhawkers and Conscript Hunters alike, to round out the picture of Civil War Louisiana. You should arrive back in Houston by noon.

Payment Schedule

June 1, 2017 $200 – Non-refundable deposit

August 1, 2017 – Half payment due

September 1, 2017 – Full payment due

All sites, transportation, accommodations are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. If such a change should occur, the particular site will be replaced with a greater or equal value.

Cancellation Policy:
74-59 days prior (August 14-August 28)- up to 50% of payments non-refundable (less deposit)
60-30 days prior (August 27-September 27)- 75% of payments non-refundable (less deposit)
30 days prior to departure – day of departure (September 28 : No refund is possible).

**It MAY be possible to “Switch for Free”: This comes into effect if someone needs to cancel and this is known 7 or more days prior to departure. If you can replace another traveler who is NOT already signed up with your spot, you may be able to receive everything back. This person has to replace you exactly – in the room, on a plane or other mode of transportation. If this works out, Bear Leader Tours will contact the Traveler Replacing the Cancelling Traveler to book. This must be done at the same time: The person replacing someone has to sign up at the same time of cancellation.
This may also be able to happen if there is a Wait List; therefore, the cancelling person will be replaced with someone from the Wait list for the same criteria as above.
If you utilize this option, you may not also file a claim with the travel insurance company.

Cancellation must be received in writing via email, fax or letter from the traveler directly.
Date is effective on date written cancellation received.

If you choose the optional Travel Protection Plan and it is a covered cancellation reason, Bear Leader Tours will give you all necessary information to file your claim with Travel Insured.

If Bear Leader Tours cancels the trip a full refund will be issued.
